For the past eleven years Majd has gained considerable experience dedicating her talents to the world of teaching in all its forms, from developing and establishing systems to managing the quality of education, teaching, administrating, and establishing two professional private institutes for teaching English, namely English for All and The Active Language Center. Majd has also distinguished herself by achieving the British Council accreditation for preparing students for Cambridge Examinations (PET, FCE, ACE, PCE and ILETS).
Why then, did this highly regarded, versatile professional in the field of teaching, decide to become an Edublox franchisee?
It was while teaching English as a second language in Syria, that Majd came across many learners who struggled to keep up with the work. Being skilled in various teaching and class management approaches, Majd did her level best to help these learners, but as she puts it, “I never achieved the perfect results I wanted; there were always some students who were left behind. The frustration I have seen in their parents’ eyes and the passion I have for my job have motivated me to search for causes of their failure to achieve the same success as their peers.”
Majd also experienced the frustration of learning difficulties on a much more personal level, because her youngest son had ADHD symptoms. “Although he is clever,” says Majd, “he found it difficult to remain focused. He also seemed to lack emotional self-control and his teacher used to complain that he could not remain seated in class. I tried different methods, even supplements, to help him and whereas he seemed to benefit from some of these, the results were neither satisfactory, nor sustainable; he simply could not study on his own like his siblings did.”
There was, however, light in the tunnel, because Majd’s research led her to study the brain and the development of memory in children; she also realized that the ability to concentrate and ignore distractions, and in particular the development of working memory, were key factors in the ability to learn, and to improve education.
“Searching for a direct and fun way to train a child’s brain,” says Majd, “I have found many options but none had the positive, tangible results that Edublox offered. Hundreds of stories of real parents and tutors were there to help me decide to be a part of this amazing practical community in South Africa.”
Majd’s franchise serves, among others, the following schools: Emirates International School Meadows; Dubai International Academy; The International School of Choueifat DIP; American School of Dubai; Jebel Ali Primary School; Dubai National School; Al Mawakeb School; Al Nibras Private School; Greenfield Community Private School; Dubai British School Jumeirah Park; Green Field Community School; Dovecote Green Primary.
